Weekend Jan 20 to 22

Aloha!

If you are seeing this message on our social media, or website and would like to be added to our weekly mailing list – please message us at hawaiirunningproject@gmail.com

This weekend make plans to attend the Harold Chapson Diamond Head Dash 10K race on Sunday morning. See info below.

If you are not racing it, please consider volunteering, or coming out to cheer on the runners. It starts at 7 am near the Kapiolani Park bandstand.

There is plenty of free parking at the Kapiolani Park/ Waikiki Shell parking lot. I suggest you arrive about 1 hour prior – at 6 am in order to find a parking spot, and do a warmup.

If you want to drop your things off for someone to watch while you are running, head over to the bandstand area and look for Coach Kawika and his red wagon.

The day prior, make a checklist for the race.

1) Rest.  2) Stay out of the Sun.  3) Carboload and Hydrate.  4) Lay out everything for the race.  5) Set 2 alarms.  6) Go to sleep early. Wake up early.

Set an A, B, and C goal. Have fun and be a positive influence on others.

The Great Aloha Run In-Training session also takes place, as it does on a weekly basis until the GAR on February 20, 2023.

A reminder that they are meeting up 15 minutes early this week. Please meet at 6:15 am. There will be a short Shoe Talk by Gaston Ly of the Running Room shop, before warm ups, and going out on the routes.

Once again, we will be splitting up into different pace groups. This week we run or walk for about 1 hour 15 minutes. Water and refreshments afterwards.

Stay tuned for announcements regarding the new HRP Board of Directors for 2023 and the Activity Calendar.

Our first HRP Dinner/Hangout of the year will be January 28th, 6pm at Sura Hawaii Korean Restaurant.

Please sign up ASAP at the following link:https://bit.ly/DinnerJan23

We are currently full, however will take a few extras on our Waitlist. If you are not able to attend, don’t worry – we have one again soon…

HRP Office SpaceThe Hawaii Running Project is looking for a place for our newly elected officers to hang out and plan out the New Year. If your company, or someone you know has an extra desk area or small office space – to donate, or at a low cost – on a month to month basis, please let Coach Kawika know. It can even be an unused area that needs to be renovated. Anything would be greatly appreciated as we grow and add programs to our Project.

Mahalo,
Coach Kawika
