Training Schedule Oct 17 to 23

Aloha!

This Sunday is the 30K at Kapiolani Park. If you are signed up for the marathon I strongly suggest you sign up for this race. It is a perfect dress rehearsal for the full marathon distance. You have to get up super early! You can practice taking in water from the aid stations. Perfect your calorie intake strategy. Feel the adrenaline of runners surrounding you. And, use your “race pace” to projection your marathon pace.

Friday Night Fireworks: Join us on Friday Night 6 pm for a social run, 7 pm potluck, and the fireworks time has changed to 7:45 pm because it’s getting darker sooner now.

This Friday – Kalani Aina… Coach Kawika’s daughter will make her debut. Come out and say “hi”. She’s one month old now. Time flies!

QK Run Club: This Thursday we are running around the Ala Wai Canal. So, meet us 6 pm at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel lobby. If you are running late, we will be doing our running drills at the Waikiki Library, instead of the Queen Kapiolani statue. Afterwards, we do our normal core work and stretching across from the hotel. 

HRP Training Schedule

(10/17) Monday Morning Training Run 6:30 am at Kaimana Beach Park. Start the week off on the right foot with a run around the park or Diamond Head.

(10/18) TNT: Tuesday Night Training 6 pm at Ala Moana Beach Park. Explosive workout! Meet near lifeguard tower 1E and the Magic Island parking lot. (10/20) ThursdayQK Run Club 6 pm at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel. Meet us in the main lobby for a medium distance tempo run around the Ala Wai Canal. Drills are at the Waikiki Library. Choose from 3 to 4.5 miles. Park at the Kapiolani Park/Waikiki Shell and jog/walk over for a warm up.

(10/21) Friday Night Fireworks Run 6 pm Food, Fun, Fireworks! Look for our canopy tent on the Magic Island shoreline facing Waikiki. Walk or run. Potluck gathering afterwards. 7:45 pm fireworks. Kalani Aina makes her debut tonight!

(10/22) Saturday Kapiolani Park 5K Run: 7 am at the bandstand. Run for time, or run/walk for fun! Course is 1&1/2 times around the park.

(10/23 ) Sunday Long Run: 5 am Boca Hawaii 30K (18.6 miles) at Kapiolani Park. Meet 3:45 to 4 am at the bandstand. Free parking available at the Waikiki Shell parking lot. More instructions are coming.

Sunday Long Run: 15 miles from Koko Marina to the Makapuu Lighthouse

Great views at the Summit of the Makapuu Lighthouse Trail. It was our turnaround for the 15 mile Long Run.
